Windows 7 has been launched and there is a lot of hype that this will stay in the market longer (similar to XP) due to its robustness experienced during the largest beta testing even undertaken. Vista users have reasons to feel let down for having bought a 'lemon' and loss of productivity due to myriad problems / bugs in Vista. Bad experience with Vista has eroded trust and goodwill towards Microsoft world over. Microsoft should take a bold and fast decision to allow genuine Vista OS users (regardless of purchase date) to upgrade to Windows 7 for free. This gesture would be the correct thing to do to compensate Vista users and regain the lost trust / goodwill.
In fact, many consumers have been forced to buy VISTA alongwith latest computers due to stiff downgrade charge for XP option and no option given to purchase computers without VISTA. This could be a violation under MRTPC.
